| Shamanism
An ancient whole body system, Shamanism is still practiced in many
native cultures around the world. Shamanism has its roots in ancient
traditions and civilizations such as the Druids in Ireland, the
American Indian and the Indians of Peru.
Shamans were originally medicine men and women renowned for their
ability to heal, using the power of plants and animals. Shaman often
work in altered states of consciousness, introducing this state
in others, so that together they can address issues, past and present,
which may be affecting an individual on any level. This process
is called "journeying".
Through this perspective Shamans work to assist others in bringing
about deep and lasting change across the whole person.
