Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy can be used to treat a wide range of disorders, emotional,
physical, psychological, behavioral and to bring about desired change
in the patient.
When patients allow themselves to be hypnotized, they enter an
hypnotic state, an advanced state of relaxation where body chemistry
changes and the subconscious can be accessed.
Numerous methods of hypnotic induction exist, but regardless of
the particular procedure used, the primary concern is to quiet the
patient's conscious mind and make the unconscious mind more accessible.
As the unconscious mind is basically non-critical, it is during
the period of deep hypnosis that posthypnotic suggestions (those
that take effect after the patient awakens from the trance) are
most effective.
Hypnotherapy, while powerful, is not a cure-all. However, it has
become widely used to control pain, chronic pain, sciatica, reduce
stress, treat arthritis, asthma, digestive troubles, eczema, insomnia,
migraine and assist in healing. Hypnotherapy is often associated
with Neurolinguistic Programming, (NLP) .
Neurolinguistic Programming seeks to move the patients from their
present state of discomfort to a desired state of health and well-being
through reprogramming their beliefs about healing. Usually, the
practitioner will ask questions to distinguish unconscious emotional
patterns that affect the patient's emotional state.
These questions usually regard the patient's life or condition
and report how the patient relates to his or her present condition
in both conscious and unconscious ways. Once the unconscious patterns
have been discovered, the patient can be assisted in adopting new,
positive patterns.
