Relationships for people on the autism spectrum

Starting with as soon as it is known that a person is on the autism spectrum, this course looks at ways of developing meaningful interactions with people on the autism spectrum.

Some of the areas considered in this course include

• using parallel play as a stepping stone to interactive play
• working towards experience sharing
• using special interests as a way towards building relationships with others and the community.

What environmental structures can help those with autism form acquaintances . move towards friendship, and have a significant other in their lives? Through the experiences of the presenter and others, we will examine some important questions and ideas about forming relationships with others.
